Brooklyn Music School recently completed the second part of their musical exchange with Ecole d’Art Musical in April. This year a group of 17 students and their families traveled from Brooklyn to Paris to participate in two concerts with the Ecole d’Art Musical on April 23 at Le Madeleine and on April 24 at the Mairie du 5eme.
The Brooklyn Music School earned a 2019 Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of recognition offered by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of nonprofit information. By sharing metrics that highlight progress the Brooklyn Music School is making toward its mission, the organization is helping donors move beyond simplistic ways of nonprofit evaluation such as overhead ratios.
Brooklyn Music School (BMS) will be performing in Paris on April 23 at the Parish of La Madeleine at 4 pm, and on April 24 at the Town Hall of the 5th Arrondissement at 5pm. In preparation for the trip, BMS will be holding a concert on April 13 at the Brooklyn Music School as a chance for the students to perform their repertoire for the BMS community, and as a fundraiser to cover some of the costs of the upcoming trip.
BMS welcomes Donald Harrison, “the King of Nouveau Swing” to the festival as the guest host and jazz pianist Helen Sung as a guest clinician to lead a clinic on rhythm for participating middle schools: The Berkeley Carroll School, Community Roots Charter School, NEST+M, and Ocean Hill Collegiate Charter School.
