Fall Theater Class Overview

Class Description:  (Ages 5-6) The dynamic world of musical theater is explored in this introductory skills-building class. Students develop the basics of singing, dancing, and acting using songs and choreography from a wide range of popular Broadway musicals in a supportive environment. Students learn stage directions, basic dance steps and terminology, healthy vocal production techniques which include proper breathing, matching pitch and singing in an ensemble. Family and friends are invited to a performance at the end of the semester on the BMS Stage! 

Fall Semester Saturdays: 10:00am - 10:45am | 9/7/2024 - 12/7/2024 Tuition: $450

Class Description:  (Ages 7-8) In this class, will focus on the core areas of musical theater performance―Singing, Dancing & Acting using songs, scenes, and choreography from various contemporary and traditional musical theater material. Students develop musical theater skills such as movement and choreography, healthy vocal production technique, character development and confidence to help them prepare for upcoming productions!

Alice in Wonderland Production

Ages 8 - 15

Class Description: We’re putting the “play” back in “Playhouse” here at Brooklyn Music School, with the first non-musical production in quite a while! Young actors will be in the World Premiere of an exciting brand-new adaptation of “Alice in Wonderland”, written by published and award-winning playwright, Sarah Elizabeth Grace.

Alice is a curious, sheltered kid who falls down the rabbit hole and into an exciting and sometimes frightening wonder-world. As Alice interacts with strange and unusual personalities - including the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, and many more! - she discovers not only a new world, but a new way to be in it!

Classes are held twice a week 

Saturday : 11:00am - 1:15pm

Wednesday : 4:30pm -6:00 pm

ADvanced musical theater - BMS Encores

Ages 10 - 17

Fall Semester: 1:30 - 3:30pm | 9/7 - 12/7

Tuition: $650

The Brooklyn Music School Encores is a performing vocal ensemble for students who love to sing and dance in front of an audience. This audition-based musical theater program trains students to perform solos, duets, and group numbers along with choreography for various Brooklyn Music School and community events. Team-taught by industry professionals, students gain top-tier instruction in song, dance, acting and performance while building dance skills and stage presence using some of Broadway’s greatest songs. This session culminates with a performance in the BMS Stage.

If the class you are interested in is full, PLEASE sign up for the waitlist! If we have enough interested students we can open another offering.

  • NOTE: Musical Theatre classes are meant to be taken multiple years in a row, or until the necessary skills are built to join the next level!

Policy Updates:

  • Refund requests must be submitted in writing

  • For refunds before the date of the first class, a full refund will be issued, less a 5% processing fee.

  • No refunds will be given after the fourth week of classes.

  • Registration Fee

    • Students (new and continuing) must pay a one-time registration fee of $45 per family for the Academic Year 9/2023 - 8/2024.
